About Mark E. Haskins

As a professor at the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business for many years, my classroom was all about ideas for consideration and conversation.  As a husband, father, grandfather, and friend, I have learned that conversation is the glue that builds and binds relationships.  In living my Christian faith, conversations sparked by insights and stories never fail to foster a deepening of relationships with others and with my Heavenly Father.  Conversation fosters connection—connection to an idea, to others, and to a faith.  For me, the art of meaningful conversation involves five things: listening, vulnerability, curiosity, thoughtfulness, and a catalyst that sparks a conversation that taps the other four.  As I prepared to lead my classes, as I crafted articles and case studies for readers I did not even know, I was always mindful of wanting to offer rich conversational catalysts. The blog presented at this website is true to this objective (as are even the business books noted here). I do not pretend to have all the answers nor even most of them.  I do, however, have insights and ideas born of reflection, study, learning, prayer, and conversation.  May you, too.
